From my kitchen to yours.

The Kitchen Taught Me What Restriction Never Could.

Growing up in the 90s, I wanted to be skinny. That’s what the world was selling every girl — a body small enough to disappear, not strong enough to stand. My bonus dad taught me something different. He taught me about protein, healthy carbs, healthy fats — about building muscle that could actually carry the life I wanted. A body built to fit a size wasn’t building anything. It was diminishing what God had already given me. So my mom cooked that way — balanced, intentional, whole. That was NOURISHMENT before I ever had the word for it.

Diets were never my style. But I paid attention. I watched what certain foods did to my body — how they made me feel, what they gave me, what they quietly took away. And over the years, I kept questioning why. Why did one meal leave me foggy and another leave me clear? Why did some days I could barely keep moving, and other days I felt unstoppable?

That question turned into a bigger one: how could I feel better? How could I stay energized enough to sustain a 15-hour workday and still be present — still be happy — for the people who needed me most?

Working in the food industry only confirmed what I already suspected. I listened to conversation after conversation about restriction — and how miserable it made people. Over the last 30 years, I’ve watched food in America grow more processed, more disconnected from real nourishment, while disease rose right alongside it. It hit close to home. I have family members who are sick today because of how little care their bodies were given.

I didn’t want to just witness that. I wanted to BE the change. God placed a burning desire in me to help anyone and everyone willing to listen — not to another diet, but to real food wellness. NOURISH 52 is what that desire became: fifty-two weeks of meals, rhythms, and reflection, built around one truth — your body was never meant to be a battleground. It was meant to be NOURISHED.
