They Call It the Holiday 10.

You probably will not gain ten pounds this season. It will feel like you did.

The research says most people gain about a pound between Thanksgiving and New Year’s. The same research says they believed they gained three pounds more than they actually did.

Because the scale is not what you are reading. Your waistband is. And somewhere in the second week of January, the pants that buttoned in October do not.

This is not about losing ten pounds. It is about not spending one more holiday season getting further from yourself — and walking into 2027 already equipped instead of starting over.

November only. The recording is yours to keep. December Slim & Satisfied comes free.

Here Is What the Research Actually Says

The National Institutes of Health weighed 195 people every six weeks, from early October through the end of February.

Average gain across that entire window: 1.05 pounds. Across the six weeks between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day — the stretch everybody dreads — 0.8 of a pound. Fewer than one in ten gained more than five.

So the Holiday 10 is not happening to you in a single season.

And yet the same study found people overestimated their own weight gain by more than three pounds.

Read that again. They felt heavier than they were.

You are not imagining it and you are not being dramatic. The bloat, the tight waistband, the way your clothes quietly stop cooperating — that is real, even on a week the scale barely moves. It is the reason a pound can feel like ten.

And here is the part that should bother you. It does not come off. That same study followed people for a full year. They finished it 1.4 pounds heavier than they started.

The Holiday 10 is not a season. It is a decade.

Ten years of one pound. That is where the ten actually comes from. Nobody gains it at Christmas. Everybody accumulates it across Christmases.

So no, I am not promising you will lose ten pounds. I am showing you how to stop adding them.

You Already Know How This Story Goes.

They call it the Freshman 15.

An eighteen-year-old leaves home. No containers. No knives, no pans, no idea what to do with a chicken thigh. Nothing on the calendar and nobody planning the week. So week after week they eat whatever is in front of them, and by spring something has changed.

It was never willpower. Nobody set them up.

For the record, research puts real first-year gain at about three pounds, not fifteen. Another famous number that is wrong about the amount and exactly right about the pattern.

Now look at your December.

No plan for breakfast. Nothing prepped for lunch. The cookies in the break room — which would be fine all by themselves — except you never made it to the store, so dinner is takeout again. Then the party. Then the leftovers. Then the next party.

None of that is a discipline problem. Every bit of it is a planning problem.

Same story. Different season.

And No One Ever Taught You to Cook.

That is not an insult. It is a fact about when you were born.

  • —In 1968, about a third of what Americans spent on food went to food somebody else prepared. By 2018, more than half. (USDA Economic Research Service)
  • —In 1991, 41.6% of high school students had PE every single day. In 2025, 19.8%. Less than half what it was. (CDC)
  • —Required nutrition instruction, most recent federal count: 4.6 hours a year in elementary school. 5.6 in middle school. For the thing you will do three times a day for the rest of your life. (CDC)
  • —Secondary family and consumer sciences enrollment — what we used to call home ec — fell 38% in a single decade. (Werhan, Journal of Family & Consumer Sciences)

Your grandmother learned to cook standing next to her mother. You learned from a drive-thru window and whatever fits in an air fryer.

You are not lazy. You are not undisciplined. You were never taught.

And most of the country agrees it should have been. Sixty-seven percent of Americans say cooking should be a required course in school. (Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health)

A skill you were never taught is not a character flaw. It is just a skill you can still learn.

Beat the Holidays in Three Steps

Ninety minutes. Three things. Every one of them doable before Thanksgiving.

Step One

The Skill Nobody Taught You

You do not need three hundred recipes. You need to know what heat does to food. I will show you the handful of techniques that make every recipe work — on video, up close, so you watch it happen instead of hearing me describe it.

Step Two

Never Walk In Without a Plan

What happens in a grocery store when you do not know what you are making? You buy what you have always bought. Then it sits in a bag at the back of the fridge until you throw it out.

American households waste about six pounds of edible food every week — food they paid for and never saw again. We build the list before you ever touch a cart.

Step Three

The Hour That Changes the Week

If it is not on the calendar, it is not happening. Not because you do not care — because December will take every hour you do not claim first. I will show you exactly where that hour goes and what you do with it once you are there.

What $47 Gets You

  • —The live 90-minute workshop, Tuesday November 17 at 6:00 pm Central
  • —The full recording, yours to keep, no expiration
  • —Every technique on video, so you can rewatch it standing in your own kitchen
  • —Your shopping framework and your time-block template
  • —An optional 30-minute breakthrough call with me, booked whenever you are ready
  • —December Slim & Satisfied — free. A $222 program.

And If You Want to Talk, I Am Here.

When you join, you can book a 30-minute breakthrough call with me. Not a pitch. A conversation.

I am going to ask you four things. What have you tried? What actually worked? What do you believe is standing between you and where you want to be? And do you think you can fix it on your own?

If the answer to that last one is yes — good. I will point you at whatever helps and send you on your way.

If the answer is no, I will tell you honestly what I think you need. That is the whole call.

Book it when you join so your spot is held. Your call must be booked and completed by December 31.

My Birthday Gift to You

And December Is on Me.

Slim & Satisfied is my holiday program. Weekly recipes, grocery lists, and a room full of people doing it right alongside you. December normally runs $222.

If you are in this workshop, December is yours. No upsell. No second checkout. It is in your account the moment you join.

November is my birthday month, and this is what I wanted to do with it. Because ninety minutes will teach you something. A month will change something.

Walk Into 2027 Already Moving.

Here is what most people are about to do. White-knuckle December. Feel terrible on January 1. Announce a fresh start with no plan, no skills and no system behind it. By February it is over. Again.

Here is what you will do instead. November 17, you learn the three things. December, you practice them while everybody else is just surviving. And January 1 arrives and you are not starting.

You are continuing.

If you already knew how to do this on your own, you would have done it by now. That is not an insult either. It is just true, and it is the entire reason this exists.

Who Is Teaching This

I am Chef Tiesha Taylor-Junius. Twenty years in professional kitchens. More than fifty thousand meals cooked. Hundreds of people fed real food — allergen-free, the kind most people assume you can only get sitting down in a restaurant.

I am not a dietitian and I am not handing you a meal plan to follow. I am a private chef. What twenty years has taught me is that people do not need somebody to cook for them forever.

They need somebody to show them how. That is what this is. A private chef teaching you to become your own.

Questions

What if I cannot make it live?

Come if you can — the live room is where your questions get answered in real time. But the full recording is yours either way, in your account the next morning, and it does not expire.

Are you promising I will lose ten pounds?

No. I am not promising you will lose anything, and I would be suspicious of anyone who did. This is about not quietly adding a pound every holiday season for the next ten years — and about how much better the season feels when you walk into it with a plan.

Do I need to cook along?

No. Bring a notebook. This one is watch-and-learn — I am showing you technique on video so you can see it up close, then rewatch it later standing in your own kitchen.

Is this a diet?

No. Nothing to count, nothing to cut out, nothing to earn back. We are talking about skill, planning and time. Nourish with purpose, not restriction.

How does the breakthrough call work?

It is optional and it is free with your seat. You book it once you are in, and you can take it any time in November or December — it just has to be booked and completed by December 31. Thirty minutes, one on one, no pitch.

Do I have to be a person of faith?

Not at all. Faith is where my own work comes from, and you will hear that in how I talk. Nothing here requires it of you, and everyone is welcome at this table.

One Tuesday Night. Then a Different January.

You already know what happens if nothing changes. You have watched it happen for about ten years now, one pound at a time, in a pair of pants that used to button.

Ninety minutes is not a lot to ask of yourself.

“The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance.”
Proverbs 21:5
